After relaxing my wine drinking habits during COVID, I'm now working toward a better balance of wine and other beverages. I've been reading about NA wines, and No 2 Blanc Burgunder stood out as a top choice in many lists. I had to see for myself.
I found this wine at The New Bar, which has now become a resource for NA wines for me. Three of us taste tested it with a meal of slow cooked broad beans, brown rice, kimchee, and delicata squash.
This wine didn't disappoint. It had a fullness of mouth feel, unlike some other NA wines we've tried. It had a slightly mineral start, with a mild fruit top note and a clean finish. I am not a fan of wines with too much sweetness, and was happy to see the elements of fruit in this wine didn't come off as sweet, but more as a balancing note to the minerality. I appreciated the flavor against rich and spicy food, but equally enjoyed a final glass after the meal was done. I was sorry I had only one bottle, as I would have liked to have tried it with stinky cheeses as well.
This wine seems to be sold out everywhere now, but Null Wine promises more interesting wines are being made and will be offered soon. I'll keep my eye out for more Null Wines to try in the future.SweetnessRated 3.0 on a scale of 1 to 5AcidityRated 3.0 on a scale of 1 to 5BodyRated 4.0 on a scale of 1 to 5FlavorRated 4.0 on a scale of 1 to 5
