A nonalcoholic take on a Whiskey Sour, the 49er surrounds the Spirit of Bourbon with honey-ginger syrup and fresh lemon juice, and adds a dash of turmeric for a bit of color and spice.
- 2.5 oz The Spirit of Bourbon
- .5 oz honey-ginger syrup*
- .5 oz lemon juice
- 1/8 tsp ground turmeric
In an iced cocktail shaker, shake all ingredients and strain into a rocks glass over a single rock.
Garnish with lemon peel, crystallized ginger and a fresh slice of turmeric
(Honey ginger syrups and juices, or have a bash at making some.)
*Honey-ginger syrup: Combine 1 cup honey, 1 6-inch piece of peeled and thinly sliced ginger and 1 cup water in a saucepan over high heat, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium, and simmer 5 minutes. Place in the refrigerator to steep overnight. Strain with a cheesecloth.
